The Main Characters
This series showcases the Smith family. Stan is the main character. He is the head of the household and is a CIA secret agent and staunch Republican. He is a real man’s man. His wife is Francine, a stay-at-home mom with more than a few psychological issues. They have two children, Hayley, a girl who goes against everything her father stands for, and Steve, a nerdy boy in the most awkward stage of his life. The family is rounded out with Roger, an alien with an appetite for wine and afternoon television, and Klaus, a fish that has in it the brain of a German man. This is what I wrote for the last review, and I can’t add anything else so it is staying.
The Setting
Langley Falls, USA.
The Episodes
---Disc One---
1) Stannie Get Your Gun (21:51)
Original Airdate: 11/20/05
Francine forces Hayley and Stan to spend time together since they are always at each others throats. Stan brings her to a NSA park and you know the fun they will have! The park seems to be pushing guns onto kids and its completely against what Hayley is all about. She gets Stan thrown out of the NGA and when he stages a fake robbery she accidentally shoots Stan and paralyzes him. Roger also convinces Steve that he is adopted after Steve ate the last cookie that belonged to Roger. Honestly, not too much doing in this episode. Stan realizes that guns are bad but quickly turns around when guns make him walk again and that’s that. C+.
2) Star Trek (21:52)
Original Airdate: 11/27/05
Steve is failing English since he had his friend write his creative writing papers for him. Stan tries to inspire Steve to write creatively and so he decides to write about his life (especially Roger) and his book winds up getting published! So now they need a “hook” to push Steve into the stratosphere of children’s writers. He will be the “bad boy” of children’s authors. He litters, ad runs with scissors! He is also a star, and even Francine reaps the rewards, paying off the story of her roots showing. Roger is happy he’s a star, until he reads the book and sees he’s basically made fun of the whole time. He goes on an interview show and tells the whole world he’s divorcing his parents. Steve now lives on his own and a movie will even be made. Steve meets the actor who will play him and Roger scares him, causing the actor to fall into the pool of jello, drowning. So Steve asks his dad to help him out, dumping the body into the lake. Still off to a weak start for the season, though a couple of gags (the Clown holding up Stan, and Klaus’ one-liners) make it watchable. B-.
3) Not Particularly Desperate Housewives (21:52)
Original Airdate: 12/18/05
Francine wants to join the elite women’s club, The Ladybugs, since she is bored with her current life. She actually becomes a Ladybug when the Bugs think Francine is cheating on Stan. Stan, meanwhile, is getting more effiminate after taking a liking to a pet dog, but gets jealous of Fussie (the dog) showing attention to Roger. Hayley also locks Steve and Klaus in her closet after they are found reading her diary. It all ends with Francine wanting to get out of the Ladybugs but the Bugs don’t take too kindly to that, and try to kill her, and Roger getting beat up by Stan to show he’s the alpha male. Francine gets saved by her neighbor, and closet lesbian, who kisses her goodbye. This was a very good, well-written episode with everything tying together in the end. A-.
4) Rough Trade (21:51)
Original Airdate: 01/08/06
When Roger’s TV breaks, little does everyone know how it will turn the Smith’s life around. Stan fails at his job, get drunk and when Roger picks him up and crashes the car, and Stan ends up on house arrest. Stan and Roger trade places with Stan being the alcoholic TV watcher and Roger running the house. He takes a job at a car dealership, and vows to win a trip to Hawaii for the Smiths. Of course, he gives Steve bad advice (which ends up with semi-nude pictures of him online), doesn’t take care of the monkeys Hayley has at home, gets screwed out of winning the trip, and sends Stan to jail for domestic abuse. It all gets resolved when Stan uses the car salesman who screwed Roger as the patsy and the Smiths lived happily ever after. Just a great episode, with 4 storylines running and resolving neatly in the end and was very funny. A+.
5) Finances with Wolves (21:52)
Original Airdate: 01/29/06
Francine’s life-long dream of opening a kiosk comes trues when she opens a Muffin shop at the mall. Of course, Stan is not to the idea at all, so Francine steals the money, causing Stan to only afford one rocket boot! Francine makes money hand over foot at the kiosk, while Hayley tries to stop developers from tearing down more forest, and Steve thinks he’s a werewolf. Stan is helpless without Francine making him food, so he puts Klaus’ mind into another body and Klaus knocks out Stan in hopes of scoring with Francine. Of course, Stan saves Francine in the end while Klaus’ body is destroyed (back to being a fish), Steve is “cured” of being a werewolf and Hayley stops a mad potted hippie from destroying the mall during a “peaceful” demonstration. Not too much to crow about in this episode. B.
6) It’s Good To Be Queen (21:53)
Original Airdate: 02/26/06
Stan had a horrible time in high school, and always wanted to one-up his classmates by marrying a homecoming queen. He did, marrying Francine. Unfortunately, at Francine’s reunion, Stan finds out that Francine was not the homecoming queen and goes to the reunion with the person who should’ve been queen, a fat disaster of a life. Stan realizes what a jackass he’s been and tries to make up with her but Francine is now headed to the party he just left with Stan’s body double! Meanwhile, Steve is taken under the wing of a prophet, a pizza delivery boy. That story doesn’t pay off too well but the two Stans were pretty funny. B+.
7) Roger ‘N’ Me (21:52)
Original Airdate: 04/23/06
Stan goes to his friends bachelor party, makes a complete ass of himself, but has a very good time with Roger. They make such a connection that Roger and Stan do an alien “connection” and Roger gets very attached. Stan tries to make like nothing happened which breaks Roger’s heart. This leads to Francine suspecting something and along the way gets injured by Stan and Roger, suffering severe brain trauma. Roger “connects” with the doctor to save Francine and they lived happily ever after. That plot really sucked, but the subplot of Hayley and Steve breaking up a couple so they could go out with them ended horribly and was really funny. B.
8) Helping Handis (21:51)
Original Airdate: 04/30/06
Hayley films a “tribute” to her mother, showcasing how she is not a great woman. On the way home from this student film show, Stan sees a house party and sends Steve to it, onlt to have Steve get embarrased. He tries to make Steve a jock, but that fails miserably. Stan tries to make Steve popular and does the only thing he can do to make one popular, gives him a pill to grow breasts, making him popular with all the guys. Francine tries to show she is a woman who can succeed in society and tries to become a doctor, getting a fake license and trying to get a job. She ends up working for the Handicapped Mafia as their doctor. Hayley realizes how good her mom really is while Stan develops bigger breasts to show Steve the only things boys are interested. Not too great and the guys with boobs is just bizarre. C+.
---Disc Two---
9) With Friend’s Like Steve’s (21:51)
Original Airdate: 05/07/06
Stan takes a liking to Steve's friend, Barry, and eventually replaces Steve with Barry. Unfortunately, Barry without his meds is actually a raging maniac psycho killer without taking his medicines. So Stan sends Steve away (due to Barry's actions) and must deal with Barry on his own. Luckily Steve escapes and saves the day. There's a silly subplot of Roger joining a frat and Hayley hooking up with one of the frat boys. There were some funny line from Stan (fatty can use the hose!) but otherwise just average. B.
10) Tears of a Clooney (21:53)
Original Airdate: 05/14/06
Francine has a huge vendetta against George Clooney, ever since he stole a scene in her one acting gig, ruining her career. She wants to take him down and with Stan's help decides to woo George, only to crush his spirit and finally destroy Clooney. They travel to where he is staying and execute plan: Tears of a Clooney. It almost works, too, until Stan sells out Francine and tells Clooney the whole plan. Turns out, Stan fell under Clooney's spell. Stan and Francine argue a bit and it ends up being Stan that breaks Clooney's heart. Meanwhile, back home, Steve and Roger exploit foster children to do work for them and make money off of them. Hayley also has a bad sickness, but gets better and calls Child Services to take the kids away, and didn't really pay off. Some good things, but again, just average. B.
11) Camp Refoogee (21:53)
Original Airdate: 09/10/06
Steve gets out of school and Stan immediately tries to track him down (a la Terminator 2) but luckily Francine saves him. Steve manages to get sent away anyway, and accidentally sends him to a Refugee camp. Stan takes over the camp and tries to make it an actual camp, with games and T-shirts and everything. There is a silly subplot of Roger and Francine doing some role playing and being different characters which actually pays off beautifully at the end, providing the biggest laugh of the night. That sub-plot was actually better than the whole camp stuff. Pretty good episode, for once. B+.
12) The American Dad After School Special (21:51)
Original Airdate: 09/17/06
Steve has a new girlfriend, Debbie, who is overweight. Stan panics and when his family tells him has let himself go he gets very self-conscience about it. He becomes anorexic and actually causes Steve to break up with Debbie in hopes his father would get better. Stan just gets worse and lies to his family that he is getting better. It is all resolved in the end with Stan getting cured of his disease and Steve getting back together with Debbie. Some great lines from Stan (Steve, where’s your girlfriend? Behind that fat chick?) but other than that it was just a little blasé. B.
13) Failure is Not a Factory-Installed Option (21:52)
Original Airdate: 09/24/06
Stan is a star negotiator for the CIA and can break the toughest terrorist. Unfortunately, his life goes to hell as a car salesman keeps getting the better of him. He loses his confidence, gives away state secrets to a terrorist and is suspended without pay. Meanwhile, Steve tries to impress girls with cars, though they can’t drive, and Roger starts playing movies with his projector he found from the garage. Steve is about to score with some girls due to the movie projector and viewings, but the cars get repoed. Stan has left the house and the family goes dirt poor, with Hayley selling herself for money. Stan gets out of owing money for the cars, but it turns out he had that planned the whole time. Very good episode, with a callback to Roger’s jewel encrusted turd thrown in there as well. B+.
14) Lincoln Lover (21:53)
Original Airdate: 11/05/06
Stan brings Steve the Langley Conservatives club and their anti-gay stuff is hilarious (gays are the new blacks, and how to spot a gay). Unfortunately, Stan does not win the right to speak at the Republican National Convention. Stan tries to show Steve what a real Republican is like and brings him to a play about Lincoln, which was really a piece of modern crap. Stan decides to write his own play about Lincoln, and comes off as incredibly homosexual, attracting a very big gay male crowd. Stan still doesn’t get that Lincoln Lovers attracted a gay audience and is invited to speak on behalf of the Log Cabin Republicans, a gay Republican group. He learns the Log Cabin Republicans are really homosexuals (gays, they are everywhere!) and slowly he starts acting a little more gay, and then decides to become full-on gay. He wants to have sex with a man so he can try being gay and so he can speak at the RNC. Stan learns an important lesson. Being gay is not a choice, and gets to speak to the RNC and says hating gays is hate they could be used is on the Democrats. Very funny episode, that actually takes a slam at Republicans and their views on gays. A.
15) Dungeons and Wagons (21:52)
Original Airdate: 11/12/06
Francine is craving excitement and Stan just can’t provide it. So he tries to show Francine he can be exciting. He starts racing and finds it exhilirating, until Francine loses a $50,000 bet and is taken hostage. Steve, hooked on an online fantasy game, gets Jeff hooked on it, too after Hayley breaks up with him. Jeff starts spending time with Steve playing the game and Hayley gets a bit jealous. Hayley wants to get Jeff back and Klaus tells her that to get Jeff back, he must kill Steve’s online character. Klaus helps and Hayley ends up killing Steve’s character, causing Steve to be shunned by his friends, and ruining him. Hayley realizes what she did and goes on a mission with Jeff to save Steve. Very cool animation in the gaming sequences and the car chase, and the episode was hitting on all cylinders. Great episode. A.
16) Iced, Iced Babies (21:52)
Original Airdate: 11/19/06
In an odd twist of fate, Stan takes a liking to Debbie (after Debbie talks guns with Stan) and Francine starts to hate Debbie after she sees Steve spending too much time with her. She goes to extraordinary lengths to get Steve to spend time with her and when that fails she decides she should have another kid with Stan. Stan is completely against the idea and gets a vasectomy. Roger, meanwhile, goes to college so that people can take him seriously and somehow manages to become a professor! The hot guy in class even invites Hayley and Roger to his house and they are both excited, until they learn he’s a psycho who killed his father (due to Roger’s lessons) and has Hayley and Roger trapped in his house. In the end, Francine decides not to have another baby, but gets a little creepy with Steve at the show’s conclusion. This was a solid episode from top to bottom, with a lot going on and some funny bits to keep it flowing. B+.
---Disc Three--
17) Of Ice and Men (21:52)
Original Airdate: 11/26/06
It’s the year 2045 and Grandpa Klaus tells his grandson a tale of Stan Smith and his secret obsession. It is winter and and Stan starts going out in the middle of the night and the family doesn’t know where he is sneaking out to. Francine starts getting suspicious and finds out where Stan has been sneaking out to: he’s been figure skating. He has been skating in lonliness since hurting his partner many years ago. Francine starts skating with Stan and starts having fun, until he gets all competitive due to the upcoming competition. He decides to skate with Roger instead since he has a better chance of winning. Stan realizes that the contest isn’t important, and that being with his wife is more important. Steve and his friends order a mail-order bride and Hayley fills her idea with such crazy ideas like she’s not a whore and she has to get married before giving up the goods. She ends up marrying Koji, in a pointless side-story. The requisite Nancy Kerrigan joke is in there, too. Klaus’ narratting was funny but the rest of the story was too boring for me. B-.
18) Irregarding Steve (21:52)
Original Airdate: 12/10/06
Fun opening of Klaus’ secret profession leading to the deaths of all the Smith’s, save Francine, in a very super-hero action-adventure type opening. Steve realizes his dad is as smart as he puts on, and starts making fun of him. Steve and Roger decide to just leave home and go to New York. Roger promptly loses all their money. Roger and Steve try to make money, including whoring Steve out. He gets picked up by Francine’s old hairstylist but when he makes fun of Stan, Steve fights back and heads home, where, Francine believed Steve and Roger were in a tree house when in fact it’s a bunch of squirrels. A lightning strike hits the treehouse, bursting it into flames, and the rest of the family believes Steve and Roger are dead. They grieve by using Steve’s college money to go away, and selling this things, only for Steve to return. Very weak ending but the stuff with the squirrels was gold. B.
19) The Best Christmas Story Never (21:52)
Original Airdate: 12/17/06
Roger has been on Earth for 60 years (since Roswell) and another year of failure has distressed him. While at the tree lighting ceremony, all Christmas things were removed since it is a public square all non-secular things must be removed. Then he realizes people aren’t saying Christmas, anymore, but Holidays, causing Stan to go crazy, throwing the tree out the window. He has to sleep downstairs with an open window while the Christmas (Holiday) rapist is on the loose. Stan believes Christmas is dead due to Jane Fonda and when the ghost of Christmas Past shows up and brings him to 1970, Stan goes to kill her. He doesn’t do that, but gets Martin Scorsese off drugs, setting off an odd chain of events that leads to Taxi Driver not getting made, Hinckly not shooting Ronald Reagan to impress Jodie Foster, Mondale winning the 84 election and then returning power of the US to Russia. So they go back to the past again to try to make things right and Stan now has to shoot Reagan to save the future. Definitely a different Christmas episode. What they should’ve done was focused on not being able to do Christmas stuff due to the secular world we live in now, since that was funny. It got a bit too bogged down with the past stuff. B.
Season Review
This season had its ups and downs, with some great episodes like Rough Trade, and Lincoln Lover but there were some misses as well (Stannie Get Your Gun and Helping Handis). The rest were very good but unspectacular. It at least maintained a very good vibe through the season with no really bad episodes. I think this volume really developed a lot from the previous volume. The characters, especially the Smiths, were much more fleshed out and some secondary characters were developed as well, especially Terry and Greg, who always had some great lines and provided great laughs. Overall, I will give this season a strong B, a very good showing for the second volume, all 19 episodes, of American Dad.
DVD Features
A) Extras
---Disc One---
1) Audio Commentaries
---A) Stannie Get Your Gun
John Aoshima, Mike Barker, Brian Boyle, Nahnatchka Khan and Matt Weitzman are on this commentary. Nahnatchka and Brian talk about the original hard rock version of the song at the end and the show really came about since he wanted an episode of Stan singing with Hayley. Decent enough commentary.
---B) Star Trek
Mike Barker, Shawn Ian Kerkhoff, Chris McKenna, Matt McKenna, and Matt Weitzman are on this commentary. Not too much going on with this commentary. Very uneventful actually. I was listening to it while I was at work and actually trying to do work, but it was still boring.
---C) Not Particularly Desperate Housewives
Mike Barker, Chris McKenna , Dan Vebber, Matt Weitzman and Brent Woods are on this commentary. They mention that Fussy the dog name comes from a friend they all know, and is also the source of the Fusfeld motors seen later in the season. They talk about how this episode would be outdated when it came out because it was based on Desperate Housewives and is the source of the Asian music cue used in the episode. One of the gags for Fussy was that the dog would’ve been dropped off at Mordor. Mike makes a comment how they used cock on The Simpsons which they couldn’t do here.
---D) Rough Trade
Mike Barker, Pam Cooke, Seth MacFarlane, Matt Weitzman and David Zuckerman are on this commentary. Seth mentions that the Simpsons used “friggin” in their episode, which they couldn’t use. 2 commentaries in a row! Let’s see how long they can keep mentioning the Simpsons! They plotted a thing with Roger where the 1st season he is in the house, the 2nd he goes out in disguise, the 3rd he is discovered and the in the 4th, everyone is sick of him. They love him in the costumes so much that they scrapped that arc. Commentary was alright.
---E) Finances With Wolves
Mike Barker, Albert Calleros, Nahnatchka Khan, Kenny Schwartz and Matt Weitzman are on this commentary. Nahnatchka mentions that her mother got the first DVD’s and wanted to turn the commentaries off. The cast talks about words they can and cannot say on the television in a funny conversation. A very entertaining commentary.
---F) It’s Good To Be Queen
Mike Barker, Rodney Clouden, Lianne Siegel Shattuck, Russell Rothbert and Matt Weitzman are on this commentary. This is the official last episode of Season 1. Lianne is from 20th Century Fox and Russell is from the network. This could be interesting. Too bad it really wasn’t. They do talk about the differences between American Dad and Family Guy (no cutaways). Russell says they won’t do a fourth or fifth season, they’re going right to the sixth.
---G) Roger ‘N’ Me
Mike Barker, Seth MacFarlane, Rickey Wiener, and Matt Weitzman are on this commentary. This was a nice, fun, commentary, especially when Rickey thought there were 4 Goonie movies.
---H) Helping Handis
Mike Barker, Steve Hely, Nahnatchka Khan, Caleb Meurer and Matt Weitzman are on this commentary. Caleb is the director (his first solo gig on the show) and Nahnatchka the writer. They showed Stan running through the party and it reminded me of Quagmire, which one of the commentator’s mentioned, too! They say they may be related and they smell a crossover that’ll never happen. The sign language the mafioso performs is all correct, except for the one for ass, so they made one up. I think this was the best commentary on disc one.
---Disc Two---
1) Audio Commentaries
---A) With Friends Like Steve’s
John Aoshima, Mike Barker, Erik Durbin, Dan Vebber and Matt Weitzman are on this commentary. Not too much going on in this commentary. The most interesting thing they said was that pizza was waiting for them after they were done. They seemed to have fun, though.
---B) Tears of a Clooney
Mike Barker, Chris McKenna, Matt McKenna, Matt Weitzman and Brent Woods are on this commentary. The McKenna’s are always good fun. They talk about stuff from the episode but the most interesting was the hand movements between Clooney and Stan. They say putting their finger on the nose and wiggling the fingers was offensive and they were told this by Standards and Practices. Decent commentary.
---C) Camp Refoogee
Mike Barker, Albert Calleros, Jonathan Fener, Seth MacFarlane and Matt Weitzman are on this commentary. Seth is on this commentary but doesn’t add too much. One of the commentators talks about the painting then says, no one cares so I’m gonna shut up, and the commentators tell him to continue. Another one said he had a crush on an Amy Bennet and they asked what happened. He says he grew up and put her name in a TV show. Seth relates a story about Star Trek 2 and Gene naming Khan the way he did after a guy who saved his life in World War II. Very good ocmmentary.
---D) The American Dad After School Special
Mike Barker, Pam Cooke, Dan Vebber, Matt Weitzman and David Zuckerman are on this commentary. They talk about this show being up for an Emmy, actually. Go American Dad! They talk about how disturbing it was to see thin Stan. They also talk about Steve being attracted to Debbie since there is no way a nerdy kid would go after a cheerleader like in all the teen movies.
---E) Failure is not a Factory-Installed Option
Dave Bastian, Rodney Clouden, Jim Feeley, Ron Hughart and Brent Woods are on this commentary. This is interesting as these are all the artists and art designers for American Dad and talk about the art a bit. It’s also one of the few ones that don’t feature Weitzman and Barker. They call this episode 7, though its featured as number thirteen on here. They talk about how all the characters are staged to stand at a ¾ forward position, which was interesting. They also mention that it takes about a year for an episode of American Dad to go from creation to completion. Very good commentary, best on the disc so far.
---F) Lincoln Lover
Mike Barker, Nahnatchka Khan, Kenny Schwartz, Rick Wiener, and Brent Woods are on this commentary. They call this episode 11, though it is number fourteen on the DVD. They wanted to discuss gays on the show and wanted to use the log cabin Republicans (a real group), but avoided gay marriage (since they couldn’t top the Family Guy episode about that). The Log Cabin Republicans will actually be airing this at their 2007 convention. They talk about gays and how Weitzman has horrible gay-dar and is really funny. Fun commentary.
---G) Dungeouns and Wagons
Jim Feeley, Anthony Lioi, Caleb Meurer, Mickey Rose and Jansen Yee are on this commentary. Not much happening on this commentary, actually. I have nothing to write about it.
---H) Iced, Iced Babies
Mike Barker, Steve Hely, Caleb Meurer, Matt Weitzman and Rick Wiener are on this commentary. Enjoyable commentary, though not much I can write about it. One good note is the line, “quick, Francine, wipe it off between your legs,” was supposed to be, “quick, wipe it off with your vagina!” They lost that battles to S&P. They also talk about the Volume 3 DVD set already!
2) Multi-Angle Scenes
Both of these scenes show the final animated version as well as the animatic side-by-side.
---A) Stan Attacked By Francine (from Tears of a Clooney) (1:23)
---B) Fighting Giant Monster in Game (from Dungeons and Wagons) (1:24)
---Disc Three---
1) Audio Commentaries
I had written reviews for these commentaries but I can't seem to find them right now. I don't remember anything from them (even two days later) which is a bit telling I guess.
---A) Of Ice and Men
John Aoshima, Mike Barker, Brian Boyle, Erik Durbin, Kara Vallow, and Matt Weitzman are on this commentary.
---B) Irregarding Steve
Mike Barker, Travis Bowe, Pam Cooke, Chris McKenna and Matt McKenna are on this commentary.
---C) The Best Christmas Story Never
Mike Barker, Brian Boyle, Steve Hely Matt Weitzman, and David Zuckerman are on this commentary.
2) Multi-Angle Scenes
---A) Klaus Opening Dream Sequence (from Irregarding Steve) (1:45)
Like Disc Two, this is the animatic and finished animation side by side. This opeing sequence sees the whole family getting blown away.
3) An America Dad Like No Other (11:37)
This focuses on the episode, Dungeons and Wagons, with the crew talking about the origins of the episode (basically we were big geeks) and of course features different animation showcasing the online gaming. This show actually featured two very good stories and so two different director’s were used. Musically, Conan the Barbarian was the inspiration for the score. Very good look at this very different American Dad episode.
4) Favorite Scenes (11:39)
All the cast and crew talk about their favorite episodes, showing scenes from each episode. Rachel liked doing “Stannie Get Your Gun,” while Stan liked the episode where Stan impersonated a gynecologist. Good feature if only to get clips of Season 1 on here. (BUY VOLUME 1 DVD!).
5) Drawing Roger (7:12)
Jim Feely draws Roger for us. Now I know how to draw Roger, I guess.
6) Deleted Scenes (6:28)
I am going to separate this by page to maintain my sanity, there’s over a 100 deleted and extended scenes (Sweet Jesus!) I won’t put the times of the individual scenes since that would mean I am absolutely crazy. I will put notable things for any scene I feel I should note.

B) Audio/Video
The video is presented in widescreen format and the audio is Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. The video transfer was actually excellent and I think it’s better than what was done on the Family Guy DVD sets. The colors are bright and clear and there are no instances where the picture pixelates at all. The sound is very good, actually, as you can hear some things pan from right to left in the rear speakers. Very nice transfer.
C) Packaging / Liner Notes
The collection comes in the standard Fox slimline cases, which is housed in a slipcase. There are no liner notes pertaining to American Dad (all the information is on the back of the case), and not even the traditional Fox DVD booklet, either.
D) Easter Eggs
None
Overall Review
Disc One starts off with the Fox Animation Domination, Four Fathers of Comedy commercial (1:00), with some funny bits from all the series. This combined Seasons 1 and 2 and the truth is there was never a truly bad episode. There weren’t very many great ones, either, but you get one solid collection of episodes. The extras were interesting, with a look at the animation of the episode Dungeons and Wagons, the entire cast and crews favorite episodes, commentary for every episode, animatics of certain scenes and over 100 completely animated deleted scenes. I can’t believe they fit all of this in the collection. They are really going all out for American Dad as this collection trumps anything that Family Guy has put out. Excellent collection.
